The Leading Twin Centre Options With a Cruise on the Nile

By Rob Atherton

The River Nile is the life blood of Egypt and for several years, holidaymakers have travelled to cruise up and down the river between Luxor and Aswan. They come to appreciate the historical treasures that are found in abundance in this part of Egypt and to sit back and relax as their cruise boat sails down the river.

Typically, a Nile cruise takes 7 nights and from there, visitors either return home but they also have the selection to take a trip to other parts of the red sea. There are enough resorts along the coast offering something for everyone.

The favourite location in the Red Sea is Sharm el Sheikh but it also quite tricky to get to from Luxor. Because of the long distance, the only genuine plan is to fly but depending on flight availability and timings, it may mean a night in a hotel in Luxor prior to taking a flight the next day.

The least costly option is to stay in Luxor but its miles from the coast. Having said that, the coast is easily accessible by road in about 4 hours. The primary destination is Hurghada which has various hotels but there are possible choices to the north of Hurghada at El Gouna or to the south at several locations such as Soma Bay, Makadi Bay and El Quseir.

The resorts in the region of Hurghada are the most economical plan as the flight back is from Luxor which means charter airlines can be used rather than the more expensive scheduled airlines. Hurghada itself is a hectic destination with all sorts of hotels from budget up to 5* luxury.

El Gouna is more quiet and is well known for people wanting a quieter 7 days by the sea just after a Nile cruise. For remote extravagance, quseir is the very best selection with just two self contained hotels being to be had; the Movenpick or the Radisson Blu. This part of the red sea is very underdeveloped and the town of El Quseir is worth checking out if you want to see a town that is still mostly tourist free.
