Solid Preparation Is A Must To Eliminate Stress Before Moving House

By Adriana Noton

Moving is always difficult. People feel heartbroken when they leave a known environment and try to adjust when faced with something entirely new. When you live in a place, you develop an emotional connection with it and the people there. Sometimes circumstances demand moving to a new house or a state and there is no escape from it.

A successful move must be well planned before in order to have as little emotional effect as possible on the members. Planning also saves money, time and effort. If the amount of goods to be moved is large, a specialized moving company should be considered. The packing of the valuables can be done by the company or by yourself. Making a priority list with what you should take and what can be left behind, is a must. All family members are affected and they should help with making the list.

While planning the move, it may be surprising to note that many of the items that you possess in the old place may not be actually required in the new settings. This is due to the tendency of people to gather things not very essential when they live in a place for long years. When some new items are introduced, old ones fall into disuse.

It will be expensive to transport these unnecessary articles. Now is the time to get rid of them. Forget about sentimentality and concentrate on creating space for making a fresh start. Hold a traditional garage sale. This is a good way to sort through all the junk. Make sure the items to be sold are displayed in a manner where they will attract attention. What you do not sell can be donated to charity.

If you do like selling in this way, there is always the internet with its many auction sites. Sometimes items sell surprisingly quickly when offered for sale in the virtual world. Online selling can be very beneficial.

This kind of auction must be well planned before actually happening. If not, it may complicate the moving process. Items that do not sell can be given to a charity.

Once the unwanted items are disposed of, the actual shifting can be planned. Smaller moves may be completed in a single day while two or three days may be earmarked for bigger ones. Unexpected hiccups such as mishaps during transportation or breakdown of trucks are to be considered while planning the last date for completing the move.

If the moving process takes you to another state, stay in touch with the family. Inform them about the new address and keep your contacts in one place. A local phone book in the car is a must in these situations.

Before arriving at the new location, make another list. On it should be the necessary things needed to start there. Documents and expensive possessions should always be carried with you. Moving is quite a job. You can save a lot of stress and trouble by planning ahead.
