It doesn't matter whether you want a quick snack at lunch time or a 4 star Michelin course meal in the evening to celebrate something special you will find a restaurant to suit your needs and budget in this very cosmopolitan city.

Certainly when it comes to Birmingham one of the best parts to head to in order to find some truly wonderful restaurants is Brindley Place. You will be amazed at what is available from traditional British cooking to more exotic Japanese, Cantonese and Spanish fare on offer. Of course no visit to Birmingham would be complete without taking in one of its many excellent Indian restaurants as well. Below we take a look at just a few restaurants in this city that we feel are worth a visit.

1. Bank Birmingham - Located at 4 Brindley Place it is an ultra-modern bar and brasserie. As well as classic British dishes on offer such as Calves Livers with sage, onion and crispy bacon and rib eye steak with chips and barnaise sauce there are much more exotic flavours to tempt you. Why not try their chilli squid Thai noodle salad or the crispy duck breast with Chinese greens in sesame and honey dressing. A two course meal at this restaurant starts from around 35.00.

2. Lasan - This particular restaurant has been able to bring Indian food into a new age. Such food on offer at this wonderful restaurant which is situated in the centre of the city close to St Paul's Church includes fillet of lemon sole marinated in yoghurt and mint or seared breast of duck served with onion and tomato curry that has been flavoured with roasted coconut, melon and poppy seeds. Certainly you will soon see why this restaurant was awarded the British Curry Award in 2007. A two course meal here will cost you no more than 22.00.

3. Simpsons - This is without doubt one of the most prestigious restaurants for eating out in Birmingham. However although situated on Highfield Road, Edgbaston it is easy to reach from the centre of the city. What many people love about this particular restaurant along with its wonderful food is the opportunity for them to sit and watch the kitchen staff at work as the conservatory style dining room has large windows that allow you to see through to the kitchen. A two course meal here starts from around 45.00 but this is to be expected as it has a Michelin star.

4. Thai Edge - This particular place for eating out in Birmingham is located in Brindley Place and others a wide selection of authentic Thai dishes for you to try.
