Whiten Your Teeth With Easy Ingredients

By Allen Phillip

While the best person to whiten your teeth is a dentist, unless you have good dental coverage or a sizable bank balance, this isn't always an option. But that is not a problem because you can still achieve the same results on your own with a little effort. You can have the confidence that accompanies whiter, cleaner looking teeth. If you don't want to spend any money, you can probably avoid a trip to the store. Your kitchen cabinets probably contain everything you need to create teeth whitening solutions of your own. There are some precautions that would be a great idea to learn about, too, so you can protect your teeth and health.

Strawberries, baking soda and peroxide can be combined to make a toothpaste that will whiten your teeth. You could even add lemon juice, but that may be too much. Simply mix up all the ingredients together, taking care to crush the strawberries, and use it as a toothpaste. Just keep in mind that all of these ingredients have the potential to damage the enamel of your teeth if you use them frequently. Peroxide, while effective, has a harsh effect on the teeth, while both strawberries and lemon juice are acidic, so all can cause erosion. When you do use such a solution, then, make sure that you rinse your mouth well with water after using it. You should also not make a regular habit of using it, as this could be detrimental. You could use it once per week for a month or two and then not use it anymore, at least for several months.

Peroxide and baking soda are key components which can be applied to various remedies. Some dentists use peroxide in their tooth whitening processes. Just one method consists of making your own toothpaste from those two ingredients. The recipe for a whitening remedy is as simple as adding equal parts of the two ingredients together, forming a paste. No special steps needed, just brush as you normally would. If you want, you can let it sit for a minute, or longer but not much, and then rinse very well.

Another strategy you probably won't see around too much is using hard wood ash to whiten your teeth. Instead of acid, this item has another base that will get teeth white. Also, this material has an abrasive component that can be used with a mechanical device to scrub and remove stains. But just like the last time, we advise that you do not abuse this material because it can mess up your enamel if you overuse it. When it comes to actually cleaning your teeth, you can get your toothbrush wet and then dip the brush in the ash. Or, you can simply mix some with your regular toothpaste.

It is a good idea to think about what you want to use to whiten your teeth. Be aware that allergic reactions can be avoided by knowing your body. These homemade whitening solutions are not meant for daily use. Unnecessary loss of tooth life can be controlled by proper dental care.
