The Benefits Of A Beach Holiday

By Byron Jonas

A beach holiday can be wonderful for families, couples and friends alike. The word alone conjures up images of sun, sand and waves, just what a person needs to relax and forget about work and have a great time. What most people don't always realize is that when they visit the coast, it has amazing health benefits in store for them too.

The beach with its feel, smells and sounds can make you forget about everything else by simply relaxing and absorbing it, deep into your soul. The ocean makes you stand in wonder and tension drains out of your muscles to be replaced by a confidence you have not felt in some time. Somehow your problems and concerns fade away and you realize that you can handle things just fine.

The water in the sea contain many salts and minerals which are of great value to the mind and body. Some research studies have proved that individuals are rejuvenated and have renewed courage and insight to deal with life, after they have returned from a holiday where they accessed sea water. They admit to feeling refreshed, energized, settled and to sleeping much better.

Sea air is full of negative ions and iodine, which benefits the body and mind. These effects are clearly noticeable after you have visited the coast, because you suddenly realize that you have more energy, you want to laugh and play, and problems suddenly seem smaller and easier to handle. Iodine is helpful in regulating the thyroid gland which is responsible for many hormonal functions in the body.

Vitamin D is essential to produce strong teeth and bones in your body and there is no better source of it than the sun. Yes, sunblock is important and wise, but once that is taken care of, the sun has many benefits to the body and can heal many ailments such as skin disorders to name just one. The elderly, children and people suffering with high blood pressure are much more sensitive to the sun and should take further steps to cover up with sunscreen, a hat and spend more time in the shade.

The beach provides many exciting activities, not just the basic suntanning and frolicking in the waves. The more active and adventurous can enjoy diving, surfing, golf or snorkeling to keep them occupied. Many programs are arranged to entertain children which is wonderful if couples want some special time to themselves. Research your destination before you go and see what it has to offer in terms of entertainment, shopping and dining.

When taking a beach holiday, get a place close to the ocean and its many awesome advantages it will provide you with. It is great knowing you are getting healthier while you are enjoying the sun, sand and water. Holiday makers of all ages will fuel up on energy, feel revived and have courage to handle life once more.
