Can You Enjoy A Gluten And Wheat Free Vacation?

By Paige Thompson

If you suffer from Celiac Disease, you probably worry about traveling far from home. Your dietary needs follow you wherever you go, so you need to make sure you plan ahead of leaving for your vacation.

You can still go on vacation and enjoy great meals and snacks without worrying about what you're eating or dangerous cross-contamination. All you have to do is prepare yourself for travel so that you can enjoy your vacation and eat well at the same time.

Do some research to find restaurants that offer gluten-free foods in the area you will be visiting. You can go online (before you leave for vacation) and search "gluten free restaurant chains."

Then plug in the location and browse their menus. Several popular restaurant chains offer a good variety of gluten-free dishes.

If fast food is what you're after, Wendy's and Chick-Fil-A offer gluten-free items as well. Check their websites to see where they're located at your destination or (if you're driving) along the way.

Some supermarket chains make lists of wheat and gluten free foods available to their customers. You'll want to check out what supermarket chains are in the area you'll be in, so that you can know where to shop when you need a few supplies for snacking or making your own meal if you won't be dining out.

Make sure you bring some gluten-free food bars from home to have in case of emergency. They will be greatly helpful if you are somewhere where you can't get your hands on a good snack. You have a choice of many flavors.

Lara Bars and Bumble Bars are among the favorite gluten-free snacks on the market. You can find them online and at some retail stores. Ener-G Foods produces high quality gluten-free cereal and bread.

With so many possibilities to acquire proper foods, it should not be too hard to enjoy a gluten-free vacation.

In fact, you can relax and enjoy the beauty of the locality you chose to visit, and know all along that your dietary needs are being met.
