Exploring Your Favorite Travel Destinations By Car

By Elaine Ryder

The United States has many popular travel destinations by car. The nation has splendid cities and beautiful natural areas to enjoy and appreciate. Almost all these areas can easily be reached by using the nation's sophisticated highway system. From the Big Apple to San Diego and everywhere in between, the country is full of great vacation destinations.

For those living near the East Coast, several major cities are within a day's drive for the traveler. Few cities can match the excitement of New York City. From many parts of the Northeast it is a short jaunt down Interstate 95. Sure, when you get to Midtown Manhattan you may prefer to walk or ride the subway, but the Big Apple can be reached via car. Once there, you can see the Empire State Building or take a cruise over to the Statue of Liberty.

Another fine destination in Washington DC. Travelers can visit the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument and the Smithsonian. Furthermore, you can see the White House and the Capitol Building.

Folks living further west can enjoy the thriving metropolises of LA and San Francisco or visit the gambling and entertainment mecca that is Las Vegas. All these western cities are wonderful travel destinations. From Disneyland to the Golden Gate Bridge, the West Coast has multiple attractions that rival those out east.

While some roads lead to bustling cities, others take a less traveled path to natural areas that boast of herds of wildlife and gorgeous scenery. National Parks like Yellowstone, Glacier and Yosemite draw millions of visitors each year, but if you want to beat the crowds you can visit them after the peak tourist season.

You can reach many travel destinations by car in the United States, ranging from robust metropolitan areas to hidden natural gems. Half the fun is getting there, and with the nation's complex network of roads you can choose multiple routes by which to arrive at your vacation spot, and more importantly you will enjoy a slice of Americana on the way. Let the driving begin, and see America from behind the wheel.
