5 items you must take with you on any holiday

By Harriet Appleton

A holiday is often the thing we look forward to the most throughout the year, the reward for all the hard work we put into our job in order to support our family. What can sometimes go wrong is that in the midst of dreaming about lying on the beach with the sun shining and without a care in the world, we forget some of the practicalities involves in preparing for the holiday. One of these practicalities is packing and there are several items you must absolutely include to ensure that we have the great time you anticipated.

Sun cream with SPF. Obviously, only applicable if you're going to a destination with a sunny climate but then UK holidaymakers tend to make this a priority when deciding upon a destination. If this is your plan, you will need to protect yourself from the sun or the pain you feel will cancel out the pleasure you get from the sunshine. You will only be annoyed with yourself if you have a peeling tan and feeling burnt all because you forgot to pack sun cream.

Digital camera. Taking photos have become a more popular pastime with the advent of sharing sites such as Facebook and Flickr. And holiday snaps are some of the memories we tend to wish to capture the most. This makes packing your digital camera a must. We no longer wait until we return from our holiday and wait until out photographs have been developed, we now take and upload photos whilst we're on holiday and our friends and family expect to see them.

Passport and tickets. Without your passport you aren't even going to get past the departure airport and whilst this item should be at the top of most people's list of essentials it is also often something they actually forget when arriving at the airport. Finding the crucial items such as passports and travel tickets should be the first thing a person does before they begin to pack.

Holiday insurance. You will need to pack the necessary documents as evidence of your holiday insurance. Should your luggage go missing or worse, a member of your group, you will need to call on your insurance. So ensure that your documents are safely packed.
