Vital Tips On Buying Used Cars

By Kelly Florentino

You need not get stuck buying a brand new car when there is an array of quality but used cars within your reach. Usually, buyers usually afraid nurse a degree of fear as they approach these cars. Of course, such fear is justified. However, it is best to check out the entire car before you develop cold feet. Here is how to do just that.

To start with, check out the car exterior. Find out when it was painted if the car looks new. Don't be carried away by attractive painting which is probably intended to distract you from more serious problems like rust. On the underside, the whole body area, wheels and bumpers, check out for the possibility of rusts, dents and body fillers too. Exterior hidden places could also carry a measure of rusts, so check thoroughly.

Inspect the rear, front, both sides as well as the underside of the car. Hood edges must line with the fenders and panels of the other side. Ensure the frame is also aligned properly.

Now, check the interior to see if there's any tears in the upholstery, sun damage or changes in the general appearance. Be sure the engine is neat and devoid of any stains, while the gasket, exhaust manifold, valve cover and head gasket do not have leaks or rust. If the dipstick (when placed) in the oil engine shows any traces of particles, then the engine is probably faulty or is bad.

When you start the engine, it should start immediately. If it does not, then it's an indication that all is not well. When test driving, the breaks as well, if all right, are expected to gradually bring the car to a stop in a short distance and not squeal. Besides, if the transmission is good, you aren't supposed to hear any grinding sound.

When you want to buy used cars, you need not develop any fear that it's a wrong decision. It is a good decision to save funds and still have the chance to own your own vehicle. However, you need to be very careful. Take the necessary precautions and do the needed inspection. After that, you should be good to go.
