Why Go To Camp?

By James Lorenz

Do I send My kid to Teen Camps? This is a non-question for folks who went to camp as a Teenager. Most only have positive thoughts and cherished memories of a time gone by.

Speaking of value, given our current economy sleep away camp is easily the most affordable summer care choice available. Camp is so much more than childcare. It's a place and time for kids to gain independence, enhance their skills, make new friends and above all have fun.

Daily fun is what children see but as parents we see opportunities for continuous nonstop personal growth opportunities. Kids don't know about the second and more positive part of camp, they only see camp as friends and fun but it is so much more. But, summer camp offers much more to a child's life.

Exercise is a part of life for a camper. Camp activities are filled with the chance to be out side doing rather than watching. And in a time when fat kids are the norm camp comes as a welcome relief. This activity is only a part of what happens at camp, because, Summer camp provides social interaction unlike the internet of today. Counselors help campers understand relationships and take this new found independence.

Campers discover their own capacities and grow into them, setting newer and higher standards for their own behavior themselves. The camp context encourages perseverance, listening skills, teamwork, recognizing similarities and appreciating differences. A pattern of self discovery that that is uniquely nurtured and developed at camp becomes a lifelong habit.

Swift Nature Camp promotes each child to be their very best and to grow and develop while at camp. We encourage you to see our website www.swiftnaturecamp.com
